Decentraland Now Available on the Epic Games Store; Android App Launched, iOS Release Approaching
Unlike most online platforms designed primarily for consumption—with users scrolling and watching without engagement—Decentraland is crafted for active participation. Here, you can explore, connect with others, and join various activities, whether it’s a lively watch party, an engaging live concert, or a relaxed gathering with friends.
Decentraland Launches on the Epic Games Store
Decentraland has officially released on the Epic Games Store, providing a fresh gateway for one of the largest audiences in PC gaming. With over 74 million active monthly users in 2024 according to Statista, Epic delivers a broad outreach to an engaged community of players, enhancing both discoverability and trust.
As a promotional offer, anyone who downloads Decentraland from the Epic Games Store during this initial period will receive an exclusive Epic Arrival Shield Wearable.
Yemel Jardi, Executive Director of Decentraland, expressed: “Epic Games has established credibility with millions of users, serving as a crucial channel for desktop experiences. Our presence there amplifies user access to Decentraland. This initiative is part of our broader strategy to meet players where they are, and we plan to extend our presence to more stores in the future.”
Mobile Updates: Android Now Live, iOS Launching Soon
The Decentraland app is now live on Google Play for Android users, with the iOS version slated for release shortly. Both mobile platforms are actively supported and will evolve over time, reflecting user feedback and interaction trends.
Previously, Decentraland was primarily a desktop experience. However, with mobile devices capturing 71.55% of the social gaming market as reported by Mordor Intelligence, and average daily mobile internet usage hitting 3 hours and 46 minutes according to DataReportal, the transition to mobile is crucial. Furthermore, 61% of gamers engage in cross-platform play, as indicated by the Consumer Technology Association, emphasizing the need for a cohesive and fluid user experience across devices. To foster repeat engagement, Decentraland needs to be accessible on the devices that users carry with them everywhere.
The new mobile interface has been tailored for smaller screens, promoting faster navigation and entry designed for brief, frequent visits. Users can easily check who’s nearby, pop into a watch party, or catch snippets of live events without the need for extensive planning. The consistency of spaces, avatars, and social interactions across both mobile and desktop platforms ensures a seamless experience.
Gino Cingolani, Executive Director of DCL Regenesis Labs, stated: “The goal of the mobile experience is to lower the barriers to accessing Decentraland. Users should be able to spontaneously participate in events, interact with friends, and enjoy the platform from their phones. This is pivotal in redefining what Decentraland truly is.”
